Welcome to the beautiful region of Oak Leaf County in Northern Ireland, where the art of whiskey making has been passed down from generation to generation.
The name “Old Oak” originates from the beautiful region of Derry County in the north of Ireland known as “Oak Leaf County”. The word “Derry“ is actually an anglicisation of the Irish gaelic word “Doire“ which means “Oak Wood”.
It is claimed that whiskey first originated in Ireland made by Irish monks and was one of the earliest distilled alcoholic drinks dating back to the 11th century or earlier.
In fact the word “Whiskey” is again an Anglicisation pronunciation of the Irish gaelic word “Uisce” meaning “water” and the Irish monks originally called whiskey “ Uisce Beatha” which means “the water of life “ .
At Old Oak Whiskey, we just don’t just believe in celebrating a Whiskey, but also preserving a way of life. It's about honouring the traditions of the past while looking towards the future. It's about creating something that is truly unique and special, a whiskey that embodies the spirit of the people and the land that it comes from. It's a story of the people who have dedicated their lives to preserving this art form. It's a story of the music, the traditions, and the heritage that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Our whiskey represents more than just a craft, it's a way of life. It's about celebrating the past, present, and future, and creating a whiskey that is as rich in history as it is in flavour.
Creating exceptional whiskey is an emotional journey, one that requires patience and care. Our whiskey making process process is a labour of love, allowing the spirit to mature and develop a unique character and flavour that is both complex and delicate.
